Well actually the whole thing seems weird. Seems like he was trying to say something, something about the nature of living in two worlds, but I don't know.

I don't think he knew either. Waite seemed very confused all the way around and he seemed to be trying to get a whole Universe of experience to fit inside a very tiny box. A box that couldn't even contain the bulk of his chosen religious paradigm. That's just my opinion of course.

That's interesting. From what I just read briefly on Google it would appear that Waite viewed magic as a religion, which seems to go against the entire idea in-itself.

But what do you mean by "religious paradigm" exactly?

Simply that Waite was trying to take the magick out of the GD teachings and was trying to pursue the estoric Christianity that he was so fond of. His work at trying to create a seperate GD temple that was not magickal is the basis for most of my comments about him. I see him as the sort of superstitious Christian that really wanted to believe that his prayers would be answered if he knew the right way to ask. His reason for joining any magickal order is beyond my comprehension. I think that he should have tried the arm-chair Rosicrucian path instead, he would have been happier in the long run so far as I can tell.

Isn't one definition of magic "knowing the right way to pray"?

Sure and maybe for Waite that would mean joining the seminary rather than an occult order... ;)
